Eating out Safely is a series of 12 radio features made and first broadcast in 2005 on Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation Radio 2. It features visits to food stalls in markets in Lusaka by a well-loved Zambian singer, Angela Nyirenda. In the features, Angela samples the food on offer and discusses the ways in which the holders of the stalls are tackling different aspects of safe food preparation. The series of features was broadcast as part of a series of longer magazine programmes hosted by Rosina Mbewe of ZNBC. These included live studio discussion of the issues raised and a drama series made specially for the series, set in a food stall in a Lusaka market.

The series was planned and coordinated by Dr. Monica Janowski, radio in development coordinator at the Natural Resources Institute, University of Greenwich. It was produced by
Rosina Mbewe at ZNBC and Kaz Janowski at the BBC.

The series was made as part of a wider project involving 20 international organisations aimed at promoting good food preparation practices in a range of countries coordinated by the Natural Resources Institute of the University of Greenwich.
